    Hopes for speedy success in peaceful reconciliation in South Vietnam have been expressed in Paris by the new leader of the delegation for the Provisional Revolutionary Government of South Vietnam, Nguyen Van Hieu, and the former delegation head, Madame Nguyen Thi Binh.

    They were talking on Friday (16 March) while preparing for the opening of talks with representatives of the Saigon Government on the political future of South Vietnam. The discussions are due to begin on Monday (19 March).

    Mr. Hieu, speaking in French, told of the aims of his delegation. He said his delegation would do all in its power to make the forthcoming talks a success.

    Madame Binh, who is returning to South Vietnam to assume her duties as Foreign Minister in the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Viet Cong told of her international aims.

    She said friendly relations would be established with all countries in the interests of peace.

    SYNOPSIS: In Paris, the new leader of the Viet Cong delegation talks to newsmen....
    He is Nguyen Van Heiu, who is taking over from Madame Nguyen Thi Binh at talks on the future of South Vietnam beginning on Monday. He said his Provisional Revolutionary Government of South Vietnam would do its best at the consultative conference of the two South Vietnamese parties to come to a speedy settlement.

    He said their would be achieved in a spirit of national unity and mutual respect.

    The retiring delegation leader, Madame Binh, also spoke to newsmen.....

    Madame Binh, who played a big part in the Paris talks which helped pave the way to peace in South Vietnam, said she was returning to South Vietnam to assume her role as Foreign Minister in the Viet Cong's Provisional Revolutionary Government. She said the foreign policies of her Government were the politics of peace and neutrality.

    Madame Binh said these policies meant her Government would establish and develop friendship relations with all the countries without any distinctions in political regime. This would be achieved on a basis of respect, sovereignty and independence of her people, and in the interests of peace in Vietnam.

    Madame Binh was then presented with a bouquet as she farewelled her fellow countrymen and delegates.
