    Twelve doctors from The People's Republic of china began a three-week tour of medical facilities in the United States with a visit on Friday (13 October) to the National Institute of Health in Washington.

    The Group of doctors - including two women and four acupuncture specialists - are the first physicians from The People's Republic of China to visit the United States for twenty years.

    They're led by Wu Wei-jan, Vice Chairman of the Association of Surgery, All-China Medical Association and also Deputy Chief of Surgery at the Capital Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.

    The doctors will spend approximately four days each in Washington, New York, Boston, Kansas City and San Francisco.

    At the National Institute of Health, the Chinese doctors were greeted by the Director, Doctor Robert Marston. A transcript of an impromptu news conference outside the Institute, which is shown on the film, appears below.

    SYNOPSIS: A group of twelve doctors from The People's Republic of China arrive at the National Institute of Health in Washington to begin a three-weeks tour of the United States.

    The party, which includes two woman doctors and four specialists in acupuncture, is led by Wu Wei-jan, Vice Chairman of the Associations of Surgery of the All-China Medical Association. They were welcomed by the Director of the National Institute of Health, Doctor Robert Marston.
