  • Description

The unusual sound of planes over the holy city is something which still makes Jerusalemites look up towards the sky - for almost 20 years no planes were permitted over Jerusalem as laid down in the now defunct Armistica Agreement of Rhodes with Jordan in 1949. But lately Jerusalemites got used to set their watches by the sound of planes of Arkia, the Israel Inland Airline. About 15 times a day, sometimes even more, planes at scheduled hours fly over Jerusalem in order to touch down at Jerusalem airport, some 20 kms out of town on the way to Ramallah. And with a few more preparations of minor importance this airport will be read to receive the first post-war intl. flights. A number of European airlines have expressed interest in acquiring landingrights in Jerusalem. (See clippings).
