  • Description

A conference opened in Geneva on Monday (June 7th) which will examine, revise and supplement regulations relating to space radio communications. More than 700 delegates are attending the conference which is organised by the International Telecommunication Union, a specialised agency of the United Nations, which is based in Geneva. The meeting is due to continue for six weeks.

The conference will revise the regulations in the light of rapid developments in space technology and the use of communications satellites since the last conference in 1963. The International Telecommunication Union said this year's conference was one of the most important it had organised in the past 25 years in view of the repercussions its decisions will have on the development of every branch of telecommunications in the 1970's.
