    MR. CHOU EN-LAI, THE CHINESE PRIME MINISTER, INSPECTED DAR-ES-SALAAM UNIVERSITY COLLEGE YESTERDAY (MONDAY). IT WAS THE LAST FULL DAY OF HIS FOUR-DAY OFFICIAL VISIT TO TANZANIA, AND TODAY HE LEFT BY AIR FOR ADDIS ABABA.

    THE UNIVERSITY INSPECTION CLIMAXED A TWO-HOUR SIGHT-SEEING TOUR OF THE TANZANIA CAPITAL. STUDENTS WERE OUT IN FORCE TO SEE HIM ARRIVE, AND LATER HE HAD TEA WITH PRESIDENT NYERERE AND UNIVERSITY PROFESSORS.

    IN A SHORT SPEECH, HE OFFERED A CONSIGNMENT OF BOOKS TO THE YOUNG COLLEGE, WHICH IS EXPECTED TO HAVE SOME 550 STUDENTS AT THE START OF THE NEXT ACADEMIC YEAR IN JULY.

    PRESIDENT NYERERE ESCORTED MR. CHOU ON A TOUR OF THE BUILDINGS, SOME OF WHICH WERE BUILT UNDER THE UNITED STATES A.I.D. PROGRAMME.

    (A JOINT COMMUNIQUE BY THE TWO LEADERS TODAY PLEDGED THEIR FIRM SUPPORT FOR ALL AFRICANS UNDER COLONIAL RULE, AND EXPRESSED THE BELIEF THAT THE CONGO (LEOPOLDVILLE) WOULD EVENTUALLY WIN "GENUINE INDEPENDENCE AND FREEDOM." BOTH ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND THE AFRO-ASIAN SUMMIT IN ALGIERS LATER THIS MONTH).
