    POLICE ARRESTED 159 STUDENTS DURING STREET CLASHES IN THE KOREAN CAPITAL, SEOUL, YESTERDAY (TUESDAY) -- THE SECOND DAY OF RENEWED PROTEST DEMONSTRATIONS AGAINST ALLEGED ELECTION RIGGING.

    SEVEN CIVILIANS WERE ALSO ARRESTED DURING THE DEMONSTRATIONS WHICH FOLLOWED A CAMPUS RALLY BY 2,000 STUDENTS OF ONE OF THE 12 UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES IN SEOUL.

    AT ANOTHER UNIVERSITY YESTERDAY, ABOUT 3,000 STUDENTS HURLED STONES AT POLICE LORRIES, INJURING SEVERAL POLICEMEN.

    UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES IN SEOUL HAVE BEEN CLOSED FOR THREE WEEKS SINCE THE SIX DAYS OF MASSIVE RIOTS IN MID-JUNE AGAINST THE RESULTS OF THE LEGISLATIVE ELECTIONS ON JUNE 8TH. STUDENTS ALLEGE THE ELECTIONS WERE RIGGED.

    NOW, SUMMER VACATION FOR MOST STUDENTS HAS BEEN BROUGHT FORWARD TWO WEEKS IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP THE DEMONSTRATIONS.
