    President Houari Boumedienne of Algeria left Cairo on Saturday (November 3rd) after a day of talks with President Anwar Sadat. President Boumedionne arrived in Cairo unexpectedly on Friday (November 2nd). His visit was one of many diplomatic exchange preceding a visit to Cairo by the United States Secretary of State, Dr. Henry Kissinger, in the next few days.

    President Sadat was believed to have given President Boumedienne a first-hand account of the recent developments in the Middle East, which led to a ceasefire. President Sadat also outlined Egypt's position in any future peace settlement. The two leaders were believed to have discussed contingency plans, should hostilities resume. Algeria sent troops and jets from its Air Force to Egypt during the war.

    In Algiers, the Algerian radio reported that President Boumedienne was accompanied by top officials, most of them members of the Supreme Revolutionary Council. The Algerian President left Cairo for Damascus, where he was expected to have talks with Syrian leaders.
