  • Description

8,000 Ruhr coal miners held a meeting, Aug.1, at Gelsenkirchen-Erle Germany, to protest against the dismissal as redundant, of 800 miners from the "Bismarck" mine.

Addressing the Meeting, Miners' Association leader Heinrich Gutermut, blamed the Government for the present crisis and promised that within a few days a new charter for miners would be presented.

The present situation is cue to the fact that in the Ruhr, as elsewhere in Europe, production of coal has been stepped up whilst public demand for it has lessened.
