    THE EXTREME LEFT-WING BARISAN SOSIALIS THE MAIN OPPOSITION, SECURED 13 SEATS AND THE UNITED PEOPLE'S PARTY THE REMAINING ONE.

    VOTING BEGAN BRISKLY AS THE TERRITORY'S 617,640 VOTERS STREAMED TO POLLING STATIONS, TO CHOOSE THE GOVERNMENT FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS.QUEUES BEGAN FORMING OUTSIDE THE POLLING CENTRES AS EARLY AS 7 A.M.AND BY THE TIME VOTING BEGAN AN HOUR LATER, THERE WERE SEVERAL HUNDRED WAITING.VOTING WAS STEADY ALL THROUGH THE DAY, PARTICULARLY IN THE CITY CENTRE, BUT THERE WERE NO INCIDENTS OR DISTURBANCES.
