  • Description

The Deputy Prime Minister of New Zealand, John Marshall, arrived in London on Monday (17 May) for Common Market talks with Britain's Prime Minister, Edward Health. Mr Marshall warned that unless there is some change in the French attitude, New Zealand's trade of dairy products would be out of business in five years.

One of Britain's major stumbling blocks to entry in the Common Market, has been her relationship with New Zealand. Britain imports a large amount to dairy produce from New Zealand. Observers believe that Mr Marshall will tell Mr Heath that New Zealand would face widespread unemployment and recession, if no safeguard were included in any decision in Common Market talks on Britain's entry.
