SCU Clay speaks:-(Nat.sd.) SCU Dai Dower speaks:-(Nat.sd.) SV Clay presenting Wooller with his award. SV Deputy Lord Mayor of Cardiff, Alderman Llewellyn Jenkins, shakes hands with Ken JOnes, Dai Dower & Wooller.
SV Mr..J.C. Clay speaking:- "As you all know the winner of the Sportsman's Cup 1954 is Ken Jones (applause) for his achievements on the field in the field of athletics on the rugby field: And he also knows what it is to starve - he plays on the wing. (laughter) - now then Ken Jones..."
SCU Ken Jones speaks:- "And I am quite sure that my thanks are due to the Empire News for making this trophy available for Welsh Sportsmen in future years...
Thank you very much." (applause)
SCU J.C. Clay speaks:- "The next award is - I don't think even the most learned of our judges would ask who's Dai Dower. He certainly would not dare is he was on the Welsh circuit & I think it would be very appropriate to have up here on the stage that very great pre-decessor Jimmie Wild, and they are very probably going to take pictures, & I think it would be very nice Jimmie, if you came forward & presented the..." (applause)
SCU Dai Dower speaks:-
"My Lord Mayor, Ladies & Gentlemen: I am not a speaker.. but I would like to thank you very much for the reception you have given me, & it is a great honour to come second to Ken Jones. Thank you very much." (applause)
