    THE FIRST PRIVATE ART GALLERY IN GHANA WAS OPENED IN ACCRA ON THURSDAY BY THE WIFE OF THE DEPUTY DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE GHANA BROADCASTING CORPORATION, MRS. ERIC ADJORLOLO. THE OPENING EXHIBITION IN THE GALLERY WAS OF WORKS BY MR ABLADE GLOVER, A LECTURER AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY IN KUMASI.

    THE OPENING CEREMONY WAS ATTENDED BY A NUMBER OF DIGNITARIES, INCLUDING THE WEST GERMAN AMBASSADOR IN GHANA. AFTER THE CEREMONY, MR. ABLADE GLOVER SHOWED GUESTS AROUND HIS EXHIBITS, WHICH INCLUDE CERAMICS AND TRADITIONAL ADINKRA FROM ASHANTI, ALONG WITH PAINTINGS AND GOLD ORNAMENTS.

    MRS. ADJORLOLO SAID IN HER OPENING ADDRESS THAT GHANA, AS A DEVELOPING COUNTRY, HAD BEEN MAINLY CONCERNED WITH ECONOMIC STABILITY AND GROWTH AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF ITS RESOURCES. HERSELF AN ARTIST, MRS. ADJORLOLO OBSERVED THAT DESPITE THIS PREOCCUPATION, ARTISTS WERE STILL ABLE TO CREATE WORKED WHICH HELP OTHERS TO SEE FEEL AND APPRECIATE THE WORLD AROUND THEM.
