    In the Ivory Coast capital of Abidjan on Saturday (24 April), representatives of the Ivory Coast and Canada signed an agreement and a statement o intent that will give the West African nation another 8 1/2 million Canadian dollars (GBP 4.7 million sterling) in aid.

    The sum will allow for the development of junior management in one of the sections at the television complex at Bouake in the central area of the Ivory Coast.

    The new agreement brings Canada's contribution to educational television projects in the Ivory Coast to more than 10 million Canadian dollars (nearly GBP 6 million sterling).

    The new statement of intent will permit the establishment of a programme of technical assistance for a period of five years and will allow for the taking over of technical duties by Ivory coast citizens at the end of that period.

    The documents were signed in Abidjan by the Canadian Ambassador to the Ivory coast, M. Michael de Goumois, and the ivory Coast Budget Minister, M. Kone Abdoulaye.

    SYNOPSIS: The Budget Ministry in the Ivory Coast capital of Abidjan where the Budget Minister, Monsieur Kone Abdoulaye was present on Saturday to co-sign an agreement with the Canadian Ambassador, Monsieur Michel de Goumois. The agreement will give the African nation over four million pounds sterling in aid.

    The money will allow development of junior management in one of the sections at the television complex at Bouake in central Ivory Coast.

    Canada has now contributed nearly six million pounds sterling towards educational television projects in the ivory Coast.

    The two countries also signed a statement of intent that will permit the establishment of a programme of technical assistance for a period of five years.

    The agreement will also allow for the taking-over of technical duties by ivory Coast personnel at the end of the period.
