A family of three leaves Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for a new life in New Zealand Saturday (17 November). Rodney J. Satory, a 37-year-old physicist, and his 35-year-old wife, Ruth, are convinced the world is heading for nuclear war...and living in New Zealand will minimize their exposure to radioactive fallout.
Satory plans to leave his suburban apartment in the Philadelphia suburb of Wallingford on Saturday by car for Port Everglades, Florida. There, he and his wife and 17-month-old daughter, Rachel, expect to sail for New Zealand on 24 November, arriving in New Zealand on 14 December.
Satory is a physicist at the Vertol Division of Boeing Aircraft Company. He says he has found a job with New Zealand's dominion Physical Laboratory outside of Wellington, the nation's capital. His specialty is acoustics. He says he will earn only half as much money in New Zealand as he now makes in the United States.
