Background: King Hussein of Jordan and De Gaulle of France discussed the Middle East situation during a private meeting at the Elysee Palace in Paris today (Tuesday).
The King explained the Jordanian and Arab case in the recent fighting with Israel.
The meeting at the President's palace lasted for 75 minutes. Afterwards, King Hussein said the French leader had always been a great personal friend and a friend of the Arabs as a whole.
"I had chance to explain our case and our problems and to hear his advice and views on them. I am very satisfied with our talks," he said.
President De Gaulle publicly condemned Israel last month for launching hostilities against the Arab states. but he has also blamed those who threatened to destroy Israel.
King Hussein arrived in Paris from London last night (Monday) after weekend talks with the British government. He is due to arrive in Rome tomorrow (Wednesday) for a private audience with Pope Paul before returning to Amman.
