    SOME 2,500 STUDENTS IN PANAMA ON SUNDAY TOOK PART IN ANTI-AMERICAN DEMONSTRATIONS. DURING THE DAY THEY ATTENDED A MEETING COMMEMORATING LAST MONTH'S ANTI-AMERICAN RIOTING OVER THE CANAL ZONE. AMONG THE EFFIGIES HANGED AND BURNED WAS THAT OF GENERAL ANDREW O'MEARA, U.S. ARMY CHIEF IN THE ZONE AREA.

    IT WAS ON JANUARY 9 LAST THAT A CONTROVERSY OVER FLYING THE U.S. FLAG TRIGGERED RIOTING AND CLASHES BETWEEN PANAMANIANS AND THE U.S. ARMED SERVICES THAT RESULTED IN MORE THAN 20 DEAD. THE VIOLENCE LED TO DEMANDS FOR A REVISION OF THE 1903 CANAL TREATY.

    SUNDAY'S MEETING IN THE CITY'S SANTA ANA PARK RESULTED IN THREE HOURS OF ANTI-AMERICAN SPEECHES. THE CROWD SHOUTED "YANKEE, GO HOME" AND "VIVA PANAMA". THERE WERE NO REPORTED ARRESTS OR INJURIES.
