Background: E. Monti and P. Alvern of Italy retained their two-man bob-sleigh world championship at Garmisch, Germany and set a course record of 1 minute 14.28 seconds into the bargain, in the last of their four runs.

Their record was .29 of a second better than the five-years-old record of A. Ostler and F, Kemser (Austria). The total time of the Italians' runs was 5 minutes 5.78 seconds. Second in the championship was Italy's Number Two Bob, (M. Zardini and P. Siopaes) in 5 minutes 6.75 seconds.

Austria came third (P. Aste and H. Isser), Switzerland (Zoller and Leu), fourth and Germany (Roesch and Hammer), fifth.
