    Background: INDIA AND POLAND SIGNED AN AGREEMENT YESTERDAY IN NEW DELHI FOR AN EXCHANGE OF TRADE IN 1970. THE TWO-MAY TURNOVER WILL COVER GOODS WORTH ABOUT 800 MILLION RUPEES (NEARLY GBP40 MILLION STERLING).

    THE AGREEMENT WAS SIGNED AT THE END OF A TWO-WEEK VISIT TO INDIA BY A DELEGATION LED BY R. STRZELECKI, POLAND'S DEPUTY MINISTER OF FOREIGN TRADE. HIS COUNTERPART, CHOWDHARY RAM SEWAK, SIGNED FOR INDIA.

    INDIA WILL BE SUPPLYING RAILWAY WAGONS, COTTON TEXTILES AND YARN, AND ENGINEERING PRODUCTS INCLUDING TEXTILE MACHINERY, CAR PARTS AND SMALL TOOLS. IN RETURN, THE INDIANS WILL BUY POLISH CHEMICALS, TRACTORS, SHIPS AND NEWSPRINT.

    THE DELEGATIONS ALSO DISCUSSED THE POSSIBILITY OF INDUSTRIAL COOPERATION AND AN EXCHANGE OF MANUFACTURING INFORMATION.
