Table tennis players from the People's Republic of China visited Cairo on Monday ( 9 August). The tournament between the Chinese and Egyptian players was held in the Gezira Club. The Chinese teem recently played in Nigeria and Alexandria, Egypt. The matches in Cairo were attended by large numbers of enthusiastic onlookers.
SYNOPSIS: The table tennis teem of the People's republic of China visited Cairo on Monday, August 9. The teem had previously played tournaments in the city of Alexandria, earlier in the Egyptian tour, and before that in Lagos, Nigeria.
In the first match China was represented by Miss Liang Hi Iung. Egypt offered Miss Nahed Kamal as her opponent. Miss Liang soon shots her skill.
In a two-game match, Miss Liang emerged victorious, winning 21-15, 21-14.
Among the audience was the Chinese Vice-Consul in Cairo. Another match had China's Lee Di Young playing against Egypt's Monir El Kirdany. Kirdany won the contest twenty-four to twenty-two and twenty-one to nineteen. For the Chinese, these recent matches mark their return to International competition after a four-year absence caused by the cultural revolution.
