    Britain's Prime Minister Mr. Edward Heath accused some coalminers' leaders on Monday (28 January), of being more interested in overthrowing the Government that getting better pay for miners.

    In a nationally televised interview Mr. Heath Mr. Mick McGahey, Vice-President of the National Union of Mineworkers, and another miners' leader were trying to smash stage three, the Government's special anti-inflation law. Mr. Heath also said the Government were considering changing the law which allows workers' families on strike Social Security Money.

    Britain is short of coal supplies after a ten week overtime ban by miners demanding more pay. The Government has put the country's workers on a three day working week to save power, and energy chief Lord Carrington has warned it might even be cut to two days.

    On Monday (28 January), Britain's stock markets hit their lowest point for seven years, train drivers called a series of one day strikes and employers' leaders warned that a few million people would be temporarily unemployed because of short time working in factories.
