    POLICE AND TROOPS IN SOUTH KOREA TODAY (FRIDAY) ANNOUNCED THAT THEY HAD CAPTURED ONE OF TWO AGENTS BELIEVED TO HAVE LANDED IN SOUTH KOREA THIS WEEK FROM A MINIATURE SUBMARINE. ANOTHER AGENT IS STILL BEING SOUGHT, AND A THIRD MAN FROM THE SUBMARINE WAS KILLED ON MONDAY IN A BATTLE WITH TROOPS NEAR SEOUL, THE SOUTH KOREAN CAPITAL.

    THE SUBMARINE WAS FOUND ON MONDAY BY AN ARMY RECONNAISSANCE PATROL. IT WAS LYING ON A MUD FLAT AT THE JUNCTION OF THE IMJIN AND HAN RIVERS.

    THE SUBMARINE, FOUR AND A HALF METRES (15 FEET) LONG AND WEIGHTING TWO TONS, APPEARED TO HAVE BEEN JAPANESE-MADE, AND WAS OF THE TYPE USED BY THE JAPANESE DURING WORLD WAR TWO.

    A STATEMENT FROM THE UNITED NATIONS COMMAND IN SEOUL SAID THAT A QUANTITY OF ARMS, AMMUNITION AND EXPLOSIVES WAS FOUND IN THE SUBMARINE, WHICH ALSO CARRIED A GOOD SUPPLY OF FUEL.

    POLICE SAID THE MAN WHO WAS CAPTURED TODAY WAS WEARING DIVING DRESS AND WAS CARRYING A PISTOL AND TWO GRENADES.
