  • Description

After a day rest, the fourth test between India and MCC was resumed at the Willindon Pavillon of New Delhi.

Morning honours remained with India who successfully dismissed night watchman Wilson and skipper Smith. Two century partnerships between Cowdrey and Parfitt and Cowdrey and Parks were the highlights of the day. Though India succeeded in controlling the rate of runs of MCC, Cowdrey completed his second successive century of the tour. It is interesting to note that this is Cowdrey's second appearance in the current test series and his second century. At close of play, while England were 354 for 5 wickets, Cowdrey remained unbeaten with 102.

The crowd was restless at watching idly the poor rate of scoring by MCC especially by Cowdrey of whom they were sure to see fireworks. Indian skipper Pataudi persisted with Nadkarni and Durrani and the spectators started shouted slogans "Down with Cowdrey" "Down with Pataudi".
