Background: Rolls-Royce is probably the world's most prestigious car. While the elegant lines of a "Rolls" are a familiar feature, they have never been applied to the design of a sports car. To fill this gap, a British automobile parts manufacturer in Epsom, Surrey, applied his talents to design what he thought such a car should look like.
John Dodd combined some original Rolls-Royce items - such as the grill and emblem - with a fibreglass body, and a twelve-cylinder Rolls Merlin engine in his unique creation. The engine to the one originally used to power a Spitfire aircraft and gives the car a 200 mile per hour (322 k.p.h.) cruising speed.
The car has achieved some notoriety, being displayed at various automobile shows and as the subject of a television report. It was built at a cost of fifteen-thousand pounds (37,000 dollars). But, in a years me, the car is expected to sell at a cost of a hundred-thousand pounds (260,000 dollars).
