The ladies' ready to wear market is keeping its skirts lengths around the knee with above the ankle lengths for evening wear. Popular materials are still jersey, gaberdine and wool whilst the more favoured colours appear to emerge as lemon, blackcurrant, mint and blue.
SYNOPSIS: Over eight hundred fashion houses are represented at the current International Female Ready to Wear Fashion Fair in Paris. The Latest ready to wear outfits for ladies are on display, and foreign visitors are accounting for sixty per cent of the potential customers attending the fair.
Several of the fashions displayed hare are designed for Wear on Mediterranean beaches, Nautical suits are much in evidence, with several outfits made up of a patchwork of flags for extra effect. Trouser suits, too, are adapted for beach wear.
Throughout the displays, several facts emerge. The many different houses appear to be unanimous in their verdict that the skirt should remain around the knee. Just above the ankle for evening wear. Materials are selected from jersey, gaberdine wool, cotton and linens. Among the colours, the favourite emerge as lemon, blackcurrant, mint, blue and a little black here and there. New designs feature that flat hip with pleated skirt. And in Paris on an October day, a glimpse of what should be worn on the Cote d' azure. The bikini, it seems, faded in favour of the smart one piece suit.
