    HAGENBECK ZOO GARDEN RECEIVED THIS WEEK 4 SMALL ELEPHANT FROM INDIA-CATCH FOR FEW WEEKS AGO IN THE INDIA JUNGLE. THIS 4 ELEPHANTS COST THE GARDEN 80,000 DM. OR ABOUT 20,000 EACH. BEFORE THE WAR HAGEN BECK ZOO WAS ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS AND BIGGEST IN THE WORLD-BUT IN 1943, A 90 MINUTES AIR RAID KILLED 450 ANIMALS AND DESTROY 80% OF THE GARDEN. THE ELEPHANT HOVE WAS HIT BY BOMBS. TO DAY THERE WILL BE 18 ELEPHANTS IN THIS ZOO, AND EVERY YEAR THE GARDEN BUYING FOR HUNDRED OF THOUSAND OF D.M. OF NEW ANIMALS.

    THE GARDEN THERE WILL ONE OF THE OLDEST WAS BUILT IN 1848 BY CARL HAGENBECK AND THE FIRST ANIMAL WAS A ELEPHANT FROM CEYLON.

    MANY HUNDRED THOUSAND TOURIST VISITED THE GARDEN EVERY YEAR BUT IT WILL TAKE ALONG TIME BEFORE THIS ZOO WILL BE AT THE TOP AGAIN.
