    THE RALLY MARKED THE 32ND ANNIVERSARY OF THE UPRISING AGAINST JAPANESE DOMINATION OF KOREA, AND STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES PROMISED CLOSE CO-OPERATION WITH THE MILITARY GOVERNMENT TO ACHIEVE THE REVOLUTIONARY GOAL. THEY ALSO REMINDED THE GOVERNMENT THAT NATION-WIDE STUDENT DEMONSTRATIONS BROUGHT ABOUT THE DOWNFALL OF THE SYNOMAN RHEE REGIME IN APRIL LAST YEAR.

    AFTER TWO HOURS OF SPEECHES, GREETED WITH MASS ANIMATED SHOUTS OF "LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC", THE STUDENTS BEGAN THEIR PROCESSION THROUGH THE STREETS. THEIR BANNERS AND CHANTS PROCLAIMED THEIR INTENTION TO "OPPOSE THE TESTS UNTIL DEATH".
