    The first day of the annual Moslem feast of Al Adha was celebrated on the Egyptian desert battle front on January 3rd. Moslem priests were summoned to commemorate Egyptian soldiers who had died and on the West Bank near Ismailia, soldiers spent the day praying and visiting the graves of their comrades.

    The Egyptian Commander of the Qantara sector of Egyptian-controlled sinai, Brigadier General Adbel Qawi Ezzat, gave a press conference for newsmen at his headquarters near Qantara. He reviewed the campaign, and took the newsmen on a tour, which included a visit to a former israeli strong-point on the Canal, and tank which he had been used by the Israeli commander of the sector.

    At the barracks, loudspeakers blared recorded recitations of the korean as off-duty troops prepared for the traditional dawn prayers of this great Moslem feast. After performing the prayers, General Ezzat joined his men at a festive breakfast of roast lamb and other delicacies. Al Adha is celebrated by Moslems for four days.

    SYNOPSIS: Egyptian soldiers spent the first day of the feast of Al Adha on Thursday remembering their dead comrades.

    Al Adha, which is one of the holiest days in the Moslem year, means sacrifice. Here on the Sinai front, the festival was especially poignant.

    Moslems celebrate the festival of Al Adha for four days. On Thursday, as many as possible front-line soldiers were given leave.

    The Egyptian Commander of the Qantara sector of Egyptian controlled Sinai, brigadier General Abdel Qawi Ezzat, took newsmen on a tour of the battle area after reviewing the campaign there.

    General Ezzat told the journalists that if the Geneva talks did not succeed, the Egyptians would continue military action.

    The reporters were shown over a captures Israeli strong point.

    General Ezzat also showed the newsmen a tank captured by the Egyptians which he said had been used by the Israeli commander of the sector to escape capture. The General explained that although the tank had been knocked out, the commander was rescued by the Israeli airforce.
