Background: At Abensberg Bavaria 3000 speedway fans cheered Germany's two point victory over Sweden at the international motorcycle speedway contest May 24:
Wack Hofmeister, European champion, led the seven-man German team to a 55 points win. Ove Fundin, former World Champion, of Sweden gained most individual points: 17; his team: 53.
