  • Description

A severe storm which began in the Los Angeles Basin of California on Saturday (28 November) hit an area swept by fire two months ago, causing landslides of mud to engulf roads and damage houses. Several people have been reported missing, and 12 are known to have died in the storm.

The Pacific Coast Highway was closed by mud and water for several hours. No houses were swept away, but many suffered extensive damage.

Tourists vacationing in the mountains during Thanksgiving Week-end were trapped when the storm hit. Rescue paries had to evacuate some by helicopter...including a troupe of 40 boy scouts who'd been stranded for 24 hours by the high water. Further bad weather has been forecast for the region.
