    Self-styled Mr Abu Iyad, (Proper Name, Salah Khalaf), a leader of the Palestinian Al Fatah guerrilla movement and deputy to Yasser Arafat, head of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation, told a cheering crowd of students in Beirut on Tuesday (19 November) that two attempts had been made to murder King Hussein of Jordan during the Rabat Summit meeting of Arab Heads of State last month.

    My Iyad said that fourteen members of Al Fatah had tried to kill King Hussein, but they had failed. A second group also met with no success. He attacked King Hassan of Morocco whose police had arrested the first group of guerrillas and promised that Al Fatah would assassinate King Hussein in the end.
