    MEMBERS OF THE UNITED NATIONS COMMITTEE ON APARTHEID, AT PRESENT MEETING IN LONDON, THIS AFTERNOON (MONDAY) ATTENDED A RECEPTION, GIVEN IN THEIR HONOUR BY THE LONDON REPRESENTATIVES OF THEIR GOVERNMENTS. THE RECEPTION WAS HELD AT A LONDON HOTEL.

    HOST FOR THE OCCASION WAS THE NIGERIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER IN LONDON, BRIGADIER OGUMDIPE. THE NIGERIAN HIGH COMMISSION HAD ORGANISED THE RECEPTION, AIDED BY THE LONDON REPRESENTATIVES OF GHANA, ALGERIA, SOMALIA, NEPAL, HAITI, PHILIPPINES, MALAYSIA, COSTA RICA, AND HUNGARY. THE ONLY GOVERNMENT NOT INVOLVED IN THE ORGANISATION WAS GUINEA, WHICH HAS NO LONDON REPRESENTATIVE.

    THE COMMITTEE ATTENDED THE RECEPTION AFTER IT'S FIRST FORMAL SITTING. AT FRIENDS HOUSE, EARLIER, THE COMMITTEE HAD HEARD STATEMENTS AND RECEIVED SUBMISSIONS FROM GROUPS ACTIVE IN THE CAMPAIGN AGAINST APARTHEID.

    AMONG THOSE ATTENDING THE RECEPTION WERE MR. ACHKAR MAROF OF GUINEA, THE CHAIRMAN OF THE COMMITTEE; CANON COLLINS OF ST. PAUL'S CATHEDRAL IN LONDON; MR JACK ALPERN OF THE LONDON AFRICA BUREAU; MR. JAMES AGGREY-ORLEANS OF GHANA, WHO REPRESENTS HIS COUNTRY IN THE COMMITTEE AND ALSO ACTS AS CHAIRMAN OF THE INFORMATION SUB-COMMITTEE; MR. REG SEPTEMBER OF SOUTH AFRICA; MR. M. ADESIYAH OF NIGERIA; MR. A.A. FARRAH OF SOMALIA; MR. J.O. AKIBOYE OF NIGERIA; MR. MICHAEL POPOWIC OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE; MR. M. RUZEK, AMBASSADOR FOR CZECHOSLOVAKIA; MR. L.Z. NKWETA, AMBASSADOR FOR CAMEROUN; AND MR. G.M. KEFLEGYI AMBASSADOR FOR ETHIOPIA.
