    MT. ORAB, A TOWN OF 1,500 IN SOUTHERN OHIO, HARD HIT BY THE LONG SUMMER AND FALL DROUGHT, LAST WEEK (23 OCT) WAS DECLARED A DROUGHT DISASTER AREA, WITH ONLY ONE DAY'S WATER SUPPLY LEFT IN THE TOWN RESERVOIR.

    IT WAS DECIDED TO BUILD AN EIGHT-INCH PIPELINE FROM LAKE GRANT, 3 1/2 MILES AWAY. PIPES AND TECHNICAL SUPERVISION WERE SUPPLIED, BUT 50 VOLUNTEERS FROM THE TOWN, LED BY THE MAYOR, DID THE ACTUAL WORK. ON SUNDAY (27 OCT), WATER FLOWED INTO THE RESERVOIR FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THREE MONTHS.

    MEANWHILE LOCAL CHILDREN HAD PUT UP SIGNS OFFERING GUIDED TOURS OF THE DISASTER AREA ....... FOR 50 CENTS.
