As construction workers were building the pavilions that will house the visiting countries, Major Hugh Collins, one of the Fair Organisers, explained the Fair's policy to officials.

Organisers hope that the fair will be a landmark in the continent's economic history when it is held early next year. The alm of the ten day event, is the increase of trade in Africa and the bolstering in confidence in African products. Organizers say that the fair will enable O.A.U. states to display, in one location, the products they have to offer themselves and the world. The fair will give participants a chance to examine different ways and means of trading with each other. So far, more than 25 nations will have exhibitions. the idea for the fair was initiated at an O.A.U. summit meeting in 1969.
