  • Description

Citroen's new car - long awaited by motoring correspondents and public alike - was revealed to the Press officially on April 24th in Paris, a debut overshadowed by the threat of civil war from Algeria.

The "Ami 6" as the new model is called, meets a demand for a car between the luxury Citroens and the baby, austerity run-about. Its 602 c.c., two-cylinder engine is mounted at the front for front-wheel drive, and also in front is the spare wheel, giving ample luggage space, accessible from the interior, at the rear. The rear window, as on the new British Ford Anglia, is set parallel with the windscreen.

There is independent suspension all round, of a conventional type, and not hydropneumatic as on the bigger Citroens. Road-holding is said to be excellent, and low running costs are also claimed. Selling price, minus tax, is given as 6,500 N.F.
