    LAST YEAR'S INDIVIDUAL WINNER WAS GARY PLAYER, OF SOUTH AFRICA, DESPITE A LACK OF WORK-OUT.

    TAKING PART IN THIS YEAR'S COMPETITION ARE SOME 72 GOLFERS FROM 36 COUNTRIES, AND THE FAVOURITE COUNTRY TO TAKE THE CHAMPIONSHIP IS THE UNITED STATES.

    AT A PRESS CONFERENCE IN TOKYO TODAY (NOVEMBER 10), JACK NICKLAUS SAID HE WAS NOT THINKING OF WINNING THE INTERNATIONAL TROPHY. HE SAID THE TOURNAMENT WAS PRIMARILY FOR TEAM HONOURS.
