Background: Venezuela's Vincente Rondon battered a badly cut American negro Jimmy Dupree to a sixth round technical knockout in Caracas on saturday (FEBRUARY 27) to win the world boxing light-heavyweight crown.

The title was stripped from Bob Foster last year by the World Boxing Association, when he refused to defend it against Dupree.

Since winning the fight, Rondon has received three offers to defend his titre. One offer, of 86,000 dollars, has bee made to Rondon if he defends his title against Eddie Jones in Los Angeles. Similar offers have been made for appearances in both London and West Berlin.
