Background: Economic experts from Taiwan are studying the possibility of financing industries in Jordan. On Monday (26 February) seven financial and industrial experts met Jordanian government officials to discuss the proposals.
During a three-week visit to Jordan, the Taiwanese will study the industrial situation from within individual Jordanian government departments. The visiting experts specialise in the textiles, chemical, glass, plastics and food processing industries. Taiwanese administrators are also taking part in the study.
The group which took part in Monday's meeting will report to Taiwan's Minister of Finance, Mr. Li Kowh-ting who was to arrive in Amman a few days after the advisory group. Monday's meeting was hosted by Jordan's Director of the National Planning Council, Dr. Mohammed Nouri Shafig, and was attended by the council's Secretary General, Dr. Hanna Odeh.
