Portugal's Minister of the Interior, Vasco Almeida E. Costa visited the Mint in the capital, Lisbon, on Wednesday (14 April) to oversee the distribution of ballot papers for his country's elections.
Portugal goes to the polls to elect its first free parliament in 50 years on 25 April.
The campaign has gained momentum and election posters are displayed freely in the streets of Lisbon.
The counting of votes is to take place in the Gulbenkian Foundation building in the centre of the city and there officials have been busy testing the computer equipment and installing the necessary equipment fore the news media.
Meanwhile the Portuguese Army and police force have called in to control mass rallies. One man died and several were injured during one demonstration and at least four people have no died since the campaign began.
