Background: A delegation from the new rulers of Ghana has had a meeting in Lagos with Nigerian Federal leaders.
The delegation from the National Redemption Council was headed by the Navy Chief, Commander Quaye.
It was the first official delegation from Ghana to visit Nigeria since the military takeover, which ousted Dr. Kofi Busia.
The visit coincided with the releases from jails in Ghana of several Nigerians who were being held under the Aliens Compliance Law.
SYNOPSIS: Dodan Barracks in Lagos is the residence of the Nigerian Head or State, General Gowon - and it was there on Friday that a three-man delegation from Ghana was taken for talks with the General.
The Ghana Navy Chief, Commander Quaye headed the delegation - which was accompanied at the meeting by Ghana's High Commissioner in Lagos.
This was the first official delegation from Ghana to visit Nigeria since the military takeover which saw the downfall of Dr. Busia's civilian government.
The talks were the main item on the programme for the delegation which spent only one day in Lagos. This meeting coincided with an announcement in Ghana that a number of Nigerians held in Ghanaian prisons were being released.
They were apparently being held under the Aliens Compliance Law. General Gowon discussed relations between his government and Ghana with the leader of the visiting delegation.
Little has been published from the meeting, but it's through the two sides talked about the effects of the military takeover in Ghana. The Ghanaians flew home to Accra late on Friday.
