  • Description

The French Prime Minister Raymond Barre has been talking to Soviet Premier Alexei Kosygin about the problem of Moscow landing rights for the European Airbus -- Air France says they've been met with Soviet rebuffs.

SYNOPSIS: M. Barre was met at the airport by Mr. Kosygin -- and they later discussed aviation agreements between the Soviet Union and France providing for equal shares of traffic for their national airlines on the Moscow-Paris route. Mr. Kosygin said he'd be issuing instructions for the problems to be dealt with in the spirit of the agreement.

Air France wants to introduce the wide-bodied airliner on flights between Paris and Moscow -- but French Transport Minister Marcel Cavaille says its requests for permission have met with constant refusals from Soviet authorities. M. Barre said he was confident the problem would be solved.

After meeting Mr. Kosygin, M. Barre had political talks with Kremlin Chief Leonid Brezhnev -- underlining the importance the Soviet Union attaches to what was ostensibly a routine visit for economic discussions. M. Barre is anxious to win Soviet support for a French drive to give new impetus to world disarmament negotiations.
