THE STUDENTS ARE TO APPEAR IN COURT ON AUG 14.

    DEMONSTRATORS AT THE STATUE OF LIBERTY WORE ARM BANDS INSCRIBED "FAST FOR FREEDOM". THE FAST WAS TO BE HELD FOR 24 HOURS ENDING AT 9 AM ON AUG 13.

    A PROCLAMATION ISSUED BY THE CONGRESS OF RACIAL EQUALITY CALLED ON "FREEDOM-LOVING NEW YORKERS TO JOIN BY REFRAINING FROM FOOD AND BY BEING WITH US IN PUBLIC VIEW". ONLY ABOUT 100 PEOPLE FOLLOWED THE APPEAL.
