SYNOPSIS: Zambia were held to a two-all draw by the touring British Amateur Team, Middlesex Wanderers, at Ndola's Dag Hammarskjoeld Stadium on Sunday June 13th. It was an exciting evenly balanced game with most of the promising movements of the home attack going by the board as the astute Wanderers' defence trapped the slightly over eager forwards into off side situations.

The game started at a cracking pace Wanderers panned in their own half for lengthy periods. In the 17th minute against the run of play, Scottish International right winger Peter Buchanan fastened on to the ball and gave the Zambia goal keeper little chance. The 31st minute saw Zambia's Mwila well placed to receive a through ball from Zambia's captain Zoom Ndhlovu, and streaking past two defenders levelled the score from six yards. Six minutes later Wanderers Eason watching the ball our of the sun nodded it to left winger Danny Lakey who ran in to slam the ball home past the advancing Mwansa.

After six minutes in the second half went away to a ball from Ndhlovu and brought the capacity crowd to its feet when he shot out of Swannell's reach to equalise. Zambia persisted in the attempt to force the pace, while the Wanderers tried desperately to slow the game down, and they succeeded in bringing the pace to their liking.

International referee, Bill Rush gave an outstanding display of match handling without fear or favour.
