    A group of 50 Palestinian students ended their occupation of the Arab League Mission in New Delhi on Saturday (9 February).

    The students took over the Mission building four days before, on Wednesday (5 February). Their aim was to protest the Middle East Peace Conference, and the Egyptian-Israeli disengagement agreement.

    On Saturday, the students gathered on the lawns near the building, singing revolutionary songs and waving banners. They later marched to the Egyptian Embassy to stage a demonstration.

    The group lowered the Palestinian flag, which had flown form the building since the beginning of the occupation.

    The group came form six Indian universities. They have been supported in their actions by students of the Jawaharial Nehru University and Delhi University. The Indian students have demanded that the Indian Government give diplomatic recognition to the Palestinian Liberation Organisation.
