    The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Michael Ramsey, arrived in Seoul on Monday (26 March) at the start of a four-day visit to South Korea.

    After being welcomed to the country Dr. Ramsey received an honourary Doctorate from Yonsei University before going on to the Dong Kuk Buddhist University where he met its President, Mr. Suh Don-Kak.

    While Dr. Ramsey was in Seoul he was to call on President Park Shung Hee, give a lecture and meet the country's religious leaders.

    SYNOPSIS: Korea's Dong Kuk University at Seoul is run by Buddhist monks and this week it welcomed a distinguished visitor from Britain.... The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Michael Ramsey. The Archbishop spent four days in South Korea during a month-long tour of the Far East. At the Buddhist University he met its president, Mr. Suh Don-Kak and other university officials.

    Dr. Ramsey is 68, and he will retire as Archbishop next year. This tour is his last official trip before he retires and at most stops the accent has been on youth. When he arrived in Seoul he received an honourary degree from the Yonsei University before going on the Buddhist establishment. After that, Dr. Ramsey was expected to call on President Park Shung Hee, give at least one lecture, and meet the country's religious leaders.
