  • Description

This film from Visnews cameraman George Haj shows some of the damage at the Jerash refugee camp in North Jordan, which Palestinian commandos claim was caused by Jordanian army shelling during the last few days.

Jerash, about 30 miles (50 kms) north-west of Amman, and about the same distance south of Irbid and Ramtha, was the scene of heavy fighting last December between the two sides, and is once again the centre of clashes.

The current crisis was triggered by fighting in Irbid last month which later spread to Amman.

On the 5th of April, there were reports of clashes at the village of Sakeb, near Jerash. Two Jordanian army soldiers were reported killed and a third wounded near the village, and in the village itself two civilians were killed and three others injured.
