Background: Newly-married Norwegian Princess Astrid, and her commoner husband Joan Ferner, flew into Paris January 13 at the start of their honeymoon.
The smiling Princess and Mr Ferner were reluctant to disclose their destination but crowds of reporters followed them to their small hotel in the city.
Many thousands of people had cheered the young couple when they drove to their wedding at Asker, Norway, the previous day. After the marriage in the village church, some two hundred guests - including Britain's Princess Margaret and her husband Mr Antony Armstrong-Jones - attended the reception at the royal residence in Skaugum.
Princess Astrid, first lady of Norway since her mother died in 1954, still retains the title of princess, but her official name becomes: Princess Astrid, Mrs Ferner.
