  • Description

The People's Republic of Albania recently held its third national Spartaciad -- often known as the local Olympic Games -- in the capital Tirana, with more than 300,000 sportsman taking part.

However, it was the schoolchildren who stole the limelight for providing an impressive and rich display of slogans and the country's emblem as a backdrop.

More than 10,000 schoolchildren formed slogans such as "Long live Comrade Enver", "Long Live the Party of Labour and Albania" and "Let us Think, Work and Live as Revolutionaries."
The occasion at the national stadium "Qemal Stapha" attracted a host of foreign and local dignitaries led by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party of Labour of Albania, Mr. Enver Hoxha and the President of the People's Assembly, Mr. Haxhi Lieshi.

The week-long spartaciad was a significant contribution to the country's celebrations on its 30th year of liberation.
