    YESTERDAY (MONDAY) SAW THE START OF AN IMPORTANT WEEK FOR INDIA WHEN THE FIRST OF THE TWO WORLD LEADERS DUE TO MAKE OFFICIAL VISITS ARRIVED IN DELHI. PRESIDENT ZAKIR HUSSEIN AND PRIME MINISTER MRS. INDIRA GANDHI WERE AT THE AIRPORT YESTERDAY TO MEET PRESIDENT TITO OF YUGOSLAVIA.

    PRESIDENT TITO HAD AGREED TO EXTEND HIS VISIT, ORIGINALLY PLANNED FOR THREE DAYS, IN ORDER TO ATTEND INDIA'S REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS ON FRIDAY (JANUARY 26). FROM THURSDAY, HIS VISIT WILL OVERLAP THAT OF SOVIET PRIME MINISTER ALEXEI KOSYGIN WHO ARRIVES AFTER HIS TALKS IN MOSCOW WITH BRITISH PRIME MINISTER HAROLD WILSON. PRESIDENT TITO AND MR. KOSYGIN WILL MEET SOCIALLY, BUT WILL NOT BE HAVING OFFICIAL TALKS TOGETHER.

    LAST NIGHT PRESIDENT HUSSEIN SAID AT A BANQUET IN PRESIDENT TITO'S HONOUR THAT PROGRESS TOWARDS PEACE TALKS IN VIETNAM COULD ONLY BE MADE IF THE UNITED STATES STOPPED BOMBING THE NORTH.

    HE REMINDED PRESIDENT TITO THAT BOTH INDIA AND YUGOSLAVIA BELIEVED THE 1954 GENEVA AGREEMENT WAS THE ONLY BASIS FOR A PEACEFUL SOLUTION OF THE VIETNAM PROBLEM.

    PRESIDENT TITO HAD FLOW FROM THE CAMBODIAN CAPITAL AND PHNOM PENH WHERE HE HAD SIGNED A JOINT COMMUNIQUE WITH HEAD OF STATE PRINCE NORODOM SIHANOUK DECLARING THEIR SUPPORT OF NORTH VIETNAM AND THE VIET CONG IN THEIR FIGHT AGAINST AMERICA.

    IN THEIR FIRST ROUND OF TALKS, PRESIDENT TITO AND MR. GANDHI WERE BELIEVED TO HAVE DISCUSSED WORLD TOPICS INCLUDING VIETNAM, CAMBODIA, LAOS AND THE MIDDLE EAST.
