    ABOUT THIRTY PEOPLE REPRESENTING THE MALAYSIAN PEOPLES ACTION COMMITTEE "OCCUPIED" THE INDONESIAN AMBASSADOR'S RESIDENCE IN KUALA LUMPUR AT 3.20 A.M ON SEPTEMBER 19. THEY SHOUTED "LONG LIVE MALAYSIA" AND HOISTED THE MALAYSIAN FLAG ON THE FLAGPOST.

    AN INDONESIAN OFFICIAL AND TWO OF HIS EMPLOYEES WHO WERE SLEEPING IN THE HOUSE WERE HELD AS HOSTAGES.

    ABOUT 300 UNIFORMED POLICE AND MEMBERS OF THE RIOT SQUAD WERE GUARDING THE HOUSE. SEVERAL RADIO CARS, POLICE TRUCKS AND RIOT SQUAD VANS WERE STANDING BY. THE ROAD LEADING TO THE HOUSE WAS CORDONED OFF THE HUNDREDS OF OFFICE WORKERS WERE PREVENTED FROM DRIVING ALONG THE ROUTE.

    THE ACTION COMMITTEE WAS OCCUPYING THE HOUSE IN RETALIATION TO WHAT HAD HAPPENDED IN INDONESIA. THE HOSTAGES WERE ASSURED THAT UNLIKE THE INDONESIANS THE MALAYSIANS WOULD NOT USE FORCE, AND NO PROPERTY WOULD BE DAMAGED.

    MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE TOOK DOWN PRESIDENT SUKARNO'S PHOTOGRAPH FROM A WALL AND BURNED IT OUTSIDE THE GATE. A FEW MINUTES LATER A PHOTOGRAPH OF TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN, THE PRIME MINISTER OF MALAYSIAN WAS PUT UP.

    WHEN THE POLICE REPEATED THEIR CALLS FOR THE OCCUPANTS TO LEAVE THE BUILDING, THEY SHOUTED BACK: "WE WILL REMAIN INSIDE AND DIE IN THE FIRE."
    MEANWHILE, 95 MEMBERS OF THE FAMILIES OF INDONESIAN EMBASSY STAFF HERE LEFT BY TRAIN FOR SINGAPORE FROM WHERE THEY WOULD LEAVE FOR JAKARTA NEXT THURSDAY. THEY COMPRISED OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN. SOME OF WHOM WERE VISIBLY ANGRY WHILE OTHERS WERE WORRIED.
