  • Description

Among the large-scale construction works currently underway in Bangui, capital of the Central African Republic, are important projects to improve university and secondary education.

President Bokassa, himself, decided to extend all secondary schools in Bangui to ensure full educational opportunities for the young people in the capital.

Extensions to the lychee Marie-Jeanne Caron, which was established at the time of independence in 1960, are currently nearing completion.

The Jean-Bedel Bokassa University in the city is already partly operational. Thirty undergraduates are reading for degrees in law, and many other students are taking diploma courses under an academic staff partly recruited from France.

During the coming months, the Faculty of Science and Medicine will also be completed, and work in underway on the administrative buildings that will complete the campus.
